For Magick, I Need The Real Stuff!

In my studies I come across different opinions on whether our magickal tools should be made of natural materials or are man made synthetics doable? The answer in general is you do you! Don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can’t use in your own practice. If you feel tools made with synthetic materials work just as well as natural, all the power to you and your working! For me, I need things made of materials from the earth. I can feel it when it’s fake. For example I can tell is a crystal or stone is fake by holding it or if an herb is of lower quality or is old. It’s more of an energetic feeling than a physical one or what I see.

We all come from the earth. When we transition, our bodies get returned to the earth. The earth is part of the Universe. It only makes sense to me to use natural materials. They come with their own energies that can not be faked and work well with other natural energies. I don’t get them to work well with energies from synthetic materials. As a nature witch, I’m in tune with the Earth, Mother Gaia, The Moon, The Sun. For me it’s only natural to feel the energies of nature than anything else. To work with her energies, I need HER energies, not a man made object with those low, dark energies.

It is certainly possible to put energy into anything. A fake stone or plastic pentagram can be charged with natural energies such as using moon water or placing it near natural objects. I’ve done this in my early magickal days. We need to work with what we have. The energies do transfer however, in my opinion, plastic and other synthetic materials can not hold natural energies and the energies quickly fade. I can literally hold a fake charged stone in my hand feel this. It’s almost like the energy is knocking on a door no one is answering, gives up and leaves.

Like any question, this one can be debated however, at the end of the day, we’re all going to do our own thing. There are no solid rule when it comes to magick in my eclectic mind. My belief in freedom has me supporting any belief as I care more that we have the freedom to practice as we choose than to act like we should all be the same. The only rule being to harm none. Sameness is not natural. Power and strength are in diversity, that includes diversity of traditions, practices and belief systems or lack of belief systems. Claiming there is a one true anything we should all conform to is a closed minded act of cruelty. How dare anyone dismiss anyone else’s deities, beliefs or practices. I do not use tools made of synthetic materials, that is me. I’m not the standard by which anyone should base anything. Standards need to be found and set by each individual, not some kind for group think or indoctrination.

How do you feel about this? I’d love to hear your opinion below!

Merry Meet! I'm a Herbalist, Farmer and Nature Witch in beautiful East Tennessee. I live in the woods with my husband and 2 dogs where we are growing our off grid homestead and herb farm. I love wild harvesting medicine and food as well as making traditional foods and medicines. Being off grid, I'm mindful of the energy we use and what we are doing to the land we all depend on. I do my best to be as sustainable as possible. We're not perfect however, we're always improving! I value my fellow humans, my local, national and worldly communities. There's nothing better than seeing someone get healthier, happier and more empowered to help themselves. Healing isn't just ingesting a concoction or rubbing cream on the skin, it's so much more than that. As a healer, I can't deny that education is part of the healing. I'm of the belief that man made chemicals are responsible for the rise in dis ease. I've seen amazing changes in my health myself after eating mostly organic and Non-GMO. Due to my research and personal experience, I do not allow any chemicals or GMO ingredients in Love of Lotus Apothecary and Farm products. It makes no sense to me to put man made poison or franken plants in Mother Gaia's medicines. When I'm not being a foraging herbalist, I love hiking, swimming in nature spaces, spending time with loved ones, cooking, growing plants and meditating. I love rocking out behind my sexy ass drum kit and spending time with loved ones. Your time is greatly appreciated. Merry Part, Rainie Dae

Let's all share what we know, research what we hear and treat each other with love and respect.
