Mother Gaia has guided us to where we need to be to serve her and our fellow Gods and Goddesses that inhabit this planet. She put us exactly where we need to be to help heal her. When we asked for her to put us where she needs us, part of me expected to get land that would need some TLC, which we don’t mind. We’re on this planet to help heal her, if TLC is needed where she guides us, so be it. Instead she blessed with a beautiful piece of land, undeveloped, clean, pure and beautiful. We have no human mess to clean up, no pesticides, herbicides or other life ending chemicals. Just a pure nature space for us to make our own. Thank you, Mother Gaia!
By the end of August, Love of Lotus Apothecary will be permanently located in the beautiful community of Ten Mile, TN. We will then be an off grid apothecary, using less energy to produce our products. As time passes as we get we’re more set up, we will carry more wild harvested herbs and herbs grown by us on our land. Although our suppliers are great and it took a bit of research to find organic, sustainable, clean suppliers of herbs, there’s nothing like growing and harvesting our own. We do carry some wild harvested and grown by us herbs, space was limited in the rental. Now that we have quite a few acres to work with, we can expand our herb selection and have total control over the quality and cleanliness of our herbs.

As I walked this land and felt the nature spirits all around me, I got inspired and felt a calling. I often get asked to make magick tools, blends, alter decorations and home decorations. In addition to an abundance of local plants, our new home has a ton of natural supplies to do so. It will be a while as we need to set up our farm first however, I’m already respectfully harvesting materials for future projects. I’m looking forward to expanding our magickal supplies selection in our stores. Mother Gaia knew what was needed and she blessed us with an abundance of it.
Now that we’re in our permanent home and surrounded by like minded people, it’s time we get local. Getting local is what is going to save this planet. There are many ways to go local and if you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments. One way we’re going local is researching the farms around us for personal and apothecary needs. With the exception of wild caught fish and organic eggs, the rest of our diet is vegan. We won’t raise meat animals however, we do feed our dogs and carnivore guests meat. A local organic chicken or cattle farm would certainly get business from us. We love to grow our own food however, there is always something we’re not growing in a particular season and every farmer has experienced crop loss. Finding a few local fruit and veggie farms and going to farmers markets and participating in CSA shares is necessary. An herb farm would get plenty of business from us as well. There are always crops we didn’t grow or didn’t want to harvest until the population is bigger. Heirloom seeds are best bought locally, I’m sure we’ll find farmers with local seeds. There are many types of farmers, this is just a few ways we plan to support them.

Of course we will patronize local businesses, supporting the local economy is vital. Where we spend our money is powerful, it’s stronger than any vote any man made system can come up with. I want the town and community around us to thrive, it’s much easier to thrive in a thriving community than it is in a crumbling one. Things as mundane as grocery stores, gas stations and hardware stores that most of use on a regular basis are a simple way to go local and support our community. Karma is a natural law no one escapes. What you put out in the world will come back to you in one way or another.
I’ll keep updating our progress as this is going to be a wonderful journey starting with the first step…clearing an area for us to live and garden. The majority of this land will be left untouched as Gaia is perfect the way she is. We’re literally building our lives and apothecary from the ground up following Gaia’s guidance and playing by her rules. I’m excited to put my permaculture knowledge to use and garden with Gaia. Of course our gardening will be all organic, we do not use chemicals in gardening or in our personal lives as it makes no sense to grow healthy food and medicine just to put health and mind destroying chemicals all over and in it. We’re in the business of helping people improve their lives, health and knowledge, not harming them.

I’m so looking forward to offering the clean, high quality herbs and products that will be produced on our farm to both our wonderful online patrons and local community. My fellow Gods and Goddesses deserve the highest quality only found in nature, you can’t get more perfect than Gaia herself. I’m humbled by what I’ve been blessed with and I’m ready to take on the responsibility that comes with it. This is a dream come true, it took careful financial planning, utilizing the Law of Attraction, Doing what is outside of the indoctrinated norm, cultivating a relationship with Mother Gaia and using a little magick.
I’d love to hear about your journey, your ideas and thoughts about going off grid and going local. Sharing ideas helps us all. Much of what I do was an idea stolen from someone else. I tend to look at what our ancestors did and do things in traditional ways whenever possible. They have lots of cool ideas that work! I’m keeping an open mind as that’s how we learn and grow.
Namaste!
